Padmé muss sich erst daran gewöhnen, Senatorin in Kriegszeiten während der Klonkriege zu sein. Ihr heimlicher Ehemann, Anakin Skywalker, kämpft im Krieg und zeichnet sich als Jedi in Kriegszeiten aus. Im Gegensatz dazu ist Padmé entsetzt, wenn sie Todesopfer an den von Krieg zerrissenen Frontlinien sieht. Es stand noch nie so viel auf dem Spiel für das frisch verheiratete Paar.

Während Padmé in geheimer Mission unterwegs ist, schlüpft ohre Zofe Sabé in die Rolle von Senatorin Amidala – etwas, das für eine längere Zeit keine der Zofen getan hat. Als sie im Senat ist, ist Sabé ebenso erschrocken über die Machenschaften, die dort stattfinden. Sie sieht sich mit einer herzzerreißenden Entscheidung konfrontiert, als ihr klar wird, dass nicht auf diese Art und Weise einen Krieg führen kann, auch nicht für Padmé.

Und Kanzler Palpatine schwebt über all dem und manipuliert die Akteure zu seinen Zwecken…
